It's February; a month dedicated to love. While it’s easy to focus on romantic love and the ensuing highs, lows and feelings of loss and insecurity that can come with it, we are choosing to instead highlight stories of pure delight.
Love as the purest emotion felt with every fibre of your being. Love as an unconditional warm embrace that is with you for life. No vows are needed to bind these love stories, told via love letters by those who hold them dear in their heart.
This week: musician Anna Coddington and actor and director Aidee Walker write a love letter to each other and their longtime friendship in the unique form of a haiku.
The very talented pair met at Hamilton Girls High School in 1994 and have been best friends ever since. (There must’ve been something in the water that year: other alumni in their inner-circle include similar overachievers Kara Rickard and Emma Galloway).
Anna and Aidee soon started the band Handsome Geoffery with Janna Hawkins (which eventually morphed into Duchess), winning the Smokefree Rockquest in 1998.
Aidee recently directed episodes of The Brokenwood Mysteries and the series of Mystic, while Anna released new EP Beams in November and will perform it at the Auckland Arts Festival on March 19.

Formidable mind.
Ideas like raindrops.
A stream, a river, a force.

Everything she touches turns to gold,
Voice of an angel
I won the best friend competition!
