The week in celebrity outfits, with Kirsten Dunst, Ncuti Gatwa and more

Ensemble’s celebrity looks is back! We lost interest briefly, during the SAG strike, but lately the Northern Hemisphere summer looks popping up in our feed are giving us life through the dark NZ winter days. So we’re bringing it back, singing with joy over our favourite ensembles whether they be stunningly beautiful or beautifully ugly. Herewith are the outfits that set the group chat alight.

Google the definition of insouciance and I imagine this picture, taken by Sofia Coppola of her forever muse Kirsten Dunst, would be one of the first image results. Kiki looks chic AF, dressed simply in well-cut basics that look both nondescript and incredibly fancy. They no doubt cost a million bucks, but I’ll be ‘duping’ this look when summer finally returns. – Tyson Beckett

Wimbledon season means lots of photos of celebrities in summer dresses, tennis whites and uptight tailoring. These almost matching navy striped looks from Amelia Dimoldenberg and Ncuti Gatwa prove the chic power of a waistcoat; though I do want to tidy up Amelia’s messy rolled cuffs… Both were attending the British Vogue lunch with Ralph Lauren, dressed by the brand of course. – Zoe Walker Ahwa

Best in black

I didn’t know there was a new Wolverine film out until I saw these amazing photos of Emma Corrin at the premiere in Berlin hit my feed. And that, everyone, is why clothes are important. Emma is one of my favourite red carpet celebs. They’re a Miu Miu ambassador and usually wear that brand, so this YSL look is unexpected but amazing. It hurts my brain trying to work out the collar which on first glance appears to be a pussy bow but on closer inspection is simply incredible draping. I’m also obsessed with all the proportions; from the shoulder pads and extra-long sleeves to the thigh-high tights. – Rebecca Wadey

I love the prissy dressing of the Wimbledon set: broderie anglaise, bows, tweed, neutrals and elegance. But I stan Jodie Turner-Smith and love that she’s disrupted this stereotype with one chaotic outfit featuring a clash of prints that is somehow effortlessly chic on her. I’m not sure who she’s wearing, or even if it’s more than one designer. Jodie was famously a Gucci girlie, under the Alessandro Michele-era, and has been really mixing up her allegiances since then. – RW

I know what you're thinking. What in the Mark Hunter Cobrasnake is going on with this outfit? Natasha Lyonne is the queen of the kooky look for sure, but this shambolic get up is actually a costume - she's pictured here filming the next season of her colourful case-of-the-week murder mystery series Poker Face. Strike's over, TV's back! - TB

Someone needs to explain the Daisy Edgar-Jones hype because I don’t get it – though, to be fair, I also haven’t watched Normal People. I’ve always found her style a bit forgettable (except for that red bow dress last year) but this brown Vivienne Westwood gown for the London premiere of her new film Twisters caught my eye because it’s a colour you don’t often see on a red carpet – and one of my favourites. – ZWA
