This story is part of Ensemble’s colour week, presented by Resene.
As the weather cools for autumn, all we want to wear are fun, cheerful hues.
And from Havilah and Wynn Hamlyn’s spirited neons to Kowtow and Twenty-seven Names’ saturated pinks and reds, vibrant colour is on offer from most local designers for the season ahead. Even Zambesi, known for its love of black, has embraced full-force colour blocking with tailoring in stand out shades of coral and jade.
The joy of colour blocking is in its creativity and experimentation - the beauty is found in the clash, with unexpected combinations that reject arbitrary ‘fashion rules’. Pink with red, purple and yellow, blue and green, neon green and purple: it’s all fun.
