Videris designer Chloé Julian knows all about the fast life. In 2017, after 10 years in London honing her craft while working on top lingerie lines including Bendon's Stella McCartney range and AgentProvocateur, she decided it was time to return home to Aotearoa.

But when she got here, a small lingerie start-up by the name of Savage X Fenty had other ideas. Rihanna flew Chloé to the US for a series of meetings and wooed her to take on the role of vice president of design for the brand ahead of its launch.

Refusing to budge on her dream of living in New Zealand, Chloé flew to LA for meetings with her team every two weeks for 18 months, working the rest of the time from her home in Auckland's Point Chevalier.

When Rihanna moved to London, the travel and lifestyle became too much and it gave her the excuse she needed to stop and slow down. Much of that time in the air was spent dreaming about an alternate, more meaningful life.

The launch of her own lingerie brand Videris last month has given her just that. No more multinational teams to coordinate, no more seasonal schedules and time zones to coordinate.

This shift in thinking permeates through everything Chloé does, making her perfectly placed to offer suggestions for conscious gifting this Christmas. Herewith, some uber-cool yet thoughtful ideas...

At the top of my gift list, for obvious reasons, is a Videris set. Our collections harness colour psychology to evoke a message of intent to its wearer. The olive colourway inspires new beginnings and after the year that's been, I think it's quite suitable - also it's available in both the lingerie and sleepwear.

I’m a big fan of setting intentions, and these Self Practice cards are a wonderful tool to encourage daily mindfulness, plus they include full moons, new moons, Mercury retrogrades and seasons of the zodiac. I like that they come as individual cards to encourage a ritualistic ripping or burning at the close of each calendar month.

A plant that is air purifying is a perfect gift. They help absorb benzene, formaldehyde, xylene and toluene and trichloroethylene from the air inside your home. Loads to choose from, but a peace lily is great for those not too great at keeping plants.

Gifts obviously don't need to be purchased. Made gifts are always ones that I appreciate the most. I’m currently growing luffa plants to dry and then gift to friends. Due to the summer growing season falling over Christmas here in New Zealand, these won’t be ready until about February - but a thoughtful gift is welcomed at any time!
