Colour, Dr Martens and fun at an Auckland block party

It was a busy weekend in Tāmaki Makaurau, with the Pasifika Festival, P!nk’s concerts, Kelmarna Festival and rally for Palestine all showcasing, in their own ways, the vibrancy of the city. Add to that list the annual Cross St Music Festival, the laneway block party held on Saturday just off Karangahape Road.

Described by the organisers as being held in "an area rich in stories of debauchery, the red-light district and raucous house parties of notorious musical gatherings", the festival showcases local musicians (this year that included Princess Chelsea, Kédu Carlö and more) and creativity – and a distinctive style. Our resident photographer Abigail Dell'avo went along to capture some of the standout ensembles.
