Kathryn Wilson has always known how to put on a good show. The footwear designer, beloved in the industry for her warmth and infectious laugh, returned to the NZ Fashion Week schedule on Wednesday night with a fabulous and fun celebration of 20 years in business. Models hammed it up on a raised catwalk, as the bustling and full crowd – a sea of colour, sequins, leopard print, hairspray and heels (duh) – clapped, cheered and sang along to the disco soundtrack. 

It ended with a song by Beyoncé, of course: Wilson is a huge longtime fan, and has played tracks by the star at pretty much every one of her shows. This time, it was the end of Pure/Honey as Wilson and her team took to the stage at the end of the show.

Afterwards, Wilson and her closest friends and supporters from day one headed over the Viaduct Harbour’s raised bridge to Wilson’s spiritual home, Soul Bar, for a rowdy after-party – with more old-school music, an energetic dancer floor and a sabrage Champagne moment.
