Our weekly look at the stunningly beautiful and beautifully ugly celebrity ensembles that set the group chat alight.
Best group
Lorde and Charli xcx’s matching sheer Saint Laurent looks, with the same hair done by Kiwi Matt Benns, are striking, but the aesthetic chaos of this photo with Addison Rae is so much cooler, imo. It’s giving Sugababes/Little Mix/3LW/Atomic Kitten (aka girl group with three members who dressed as individuals rather than matchy-match; or as olive oil brand Graza randomly commented on Evan Ross Katz’s post, “2024 Alvin and the chipmunks”). Lorde’s all-black minimalism and Charli’s tattered skirt and tee are both perfectly on-brand, but Addison’s look – put together by my fave stylist right now, Dara – is my favourite here. She performed on-stage in the bra and tutu (replicating her contentious VMAs look which I also loved), but I love it with the classic denim jacket. – Zoe Walker Ahwa
Best birthday suits
I couldn’t pick a favourite look from Rosalía’s birthday attire so I simply picked them all. My own birthday’s coming up soon, and if I look anything as good as Rosalía and in these pictures (I won’t) and people give me as many flowers (they won’t) I’ll be just fine. She’s pulling off two trends currently doing the rounds – the drop waist dress and the bubble skirt – but in a way that looks like she invented them. As per, the devil’s in the details: the conical Madonna boobs and the draped fur shawl. The navy blue pinstripe and shiny brown colour/texture combo. The pointed corset that looks like vampire horns. As a fellow Libra, I admire her commitment to the astrological season and would very much like to get my hands on one of those custom birthday guest T-shirts. Unfortunately I think you had to be there. - Georgie Wright
Best front row attire
I developed fashion fatigue from the Milan shows; all those people seated in the front row in near nude clothing felt really regressive, imo. But then I saw this photo of singer Rina Sawayama at the front row of Gucci. It’s so fresh and sweet it made me fall in love all over again with fashion and its ability to convey emotion. This mini-coat is crazy-cute - it shimmers and moves and looks so fun to wear. And the way the collar doubles as a necklace? Ugh, stop! But for me the kicker is the shoes and socks. Absolutely perfect styling, no notes. - Rebecca Wadey
Best makeup
The red Celine dress and jacket are both wonderful (love red; love the 80s shoulder) but it’s Lady Gaga’s makeup that really completes this ensemble – from the mussed fringe to the dye job to the black nails to the pastel blue shadow. But the single sequin teardrop with smudged liner (more sequins and glitter, created by makeup artist Sarah Tanno) is next level character-driven styling that’s both playful and chic. You need to see her move and pose in it for the best experience of the whole look. – ZWA
Best outfit repeat
Full transparency: I didn’t know who Yseult was until the algorithm thrust her onto my screen wearing this Acne hot take on belted double denim. Turns out she’s a French artist that rose to fame on Nouvelle Star, a French version of X Factor/The Voice etc. Now she makes crazy beats accompanied by music videos that look like a high fashion version of The Office (see also: FKA Twig’ Eusexia video, see also: this Ensemble shoot). She also goes to Acne fashion shows, and wears the same outfit (above) to perform on Jimmy Fallon. I’m all about a good outfit repeat, and I’m all about discovering a great new artist to soundtrack my days (in the office). - GW
Best floral
Rodarte is one of the most interesting red carpet brands around. They have the ability to be either dark and gothic (as seen in their recent Beetlejuice collection, and regular use of spider motifs) or light and joyful. This pretty floral gown on Harper Steele, acclaimed writer and star of Will & Harper, is clearly the latter. Though it’s certainly not a basic floral dress, with its burn out velvet flowers, dramatic caped sleeves and black lace trim. And the styling of it (great glasses!) also elevates it into special territory. - RW
Best Chloë Sevigny
Can you tell that we love Chloë? This flirty satin babydoll dress by Dilara Findikoglu for Heavn, worn for an appearance on Jimmy Fallon, is giving pirate wench in Brooklyn and of course she pulls it off and looks epically cool. My eternal hair icon too; I'll be giving this photo to my hairdresser on my next visit. – ZWA
