From artists to gallerists and art school students, those in art circles often have some of the best personal style, with an appreciation for colour, texture and creative self-expression. So of course we were interested to see what guests at this year’s Aotearoa Art Fair would be wearing.

The annual showcase of contemporary art, featuring galleries from across the motu and overseas, is sort of like the local art scene’s version of a fashion week; with booths, displays, talks, events and more. This year’s event runs from November 16-20 at The Cloud on Auckland's waterfront, while the next is right around the corner, scheduled for March 2-5, 2023.

Photographer Abigail Dell'Avo went along on opening night to check out the art, and capture what some of the attendees – and some of New Zealand’s most exciting artists – were wearing. Think lots of colour, great jackets, sneakers - and a whole lot of Crocs.
