The week in celebrity ensembles, with Ayo Edebiri, Viola Davis and Josh O'Connor

Our weekly look at the stunningly beautiful and beautifully ugly celebrity ensembles that set the group chat alight.

Best bow

I know, Iā€™m so basic at this point, groan, but every week a bow finds a delightful and new way to surprise me! This time itā€™s a belt, expertly fashioned by Nicolas GhesquiĆØreā€™s team at Louis Vuitton, worn by legendary fashion girlie elder Cate Blanchett, and styled by her longterm stylist Elizabeth Stewart. Itā€™s the perfect mix of soft and structure, as all good leather should be, and takes these leather pants from excellent to extraordinary. Of course, the white top that is part cape, part fringe but all effortlessly chic is brilliant also. Iā€™d expect nothing less from this team of course, but I appreciate them all the same. ā€“ Rebecca Wadey

Thereā€™s been a lot of celebrity-as-ambassador dressing this week, with actors/musicians/influencers fulfilling their paid roles by attending fashion shows in Paris and Milan dressed in head-to-toe (likely borrowed) looks. Iā€™ve seen a lot of celebrities in Balenciaga, Chanel, Valentino and Louis Vuitton ā€“ aka brands with huge marketing budgets ā€“ but Viola Davisā€™ appearance for sporty brand Lacoste felt fresh. Itā€™s not a brand you see or hear a lot about, but she looks so cool ā€“ almost like they are her own clothes. ā€“ Zoe Walker Ahwa

Not much to say about this one. Just jeans and a nice jumper, isnā€™t it. But as I was trawling through fashion week shows and front rows trying to find a good celebrity outfit, my eyes started to glaze over with what I think the people call fashion fatigue. But this ā€“ this felt like a nice palette cleanser. A well cut pair of jeans. A normal-toothed smile. A jumper that feels worn (even though itā€™s probably brand new). Because of course ā€“ itā€™s not not fashion. Itā€™s Josh Oā€™Connor styled by Harry Lambert at a Loewe show. It no doubt costs more than my monthly rent. Still, if I had all the money and resources to wear whatever I wanted, I too would probably spend most of it on jeans and a nice jumper. ā€“ Georgie Wright

Iā€™ve been lamenting the lack of my beloved Pierpaolo Piccioli on the catwalks this fashion week season. I hope he finds his feet at a new fashion house soon but in the meantime Iā€™m pleased to say that Jonathan Anderson has picked up the mantle of ā€˜designers who arenā€™t afraid to play with volume and weird shapesā€™. I clocked this dress on the Loewe catwalk instantly and am so pleased I didnā€™t have to wait long to see it in the wild, most fittingly on new-gen fashion girlie Ayo Edebiri who wore it to the Business of Fashion 500 gala. Itā€™s so pretty and interesting and voluminous and cool. ā€“ RW

These jackets are incredible simply as garments, but the message and story behind them is even better. Theyā€™re made from keffiyehs that were hand-embroidered in the Jerash ā€œGazaā€ refugee camp in Jordan, for SEP The Brand, then turned into jackets by designers Serhat Işık & Benjamin A. Huseby of the brand GmbH who wore them to the Business of Fashion Gala in Paris.Ā

I think they explain it best, in their own words: ā€œBeing at Paris Fashion Week this season, with our minds elsewhere, we felt strangely out of place. In the midst of everything, itā€™s hard to ignore the disconnect ā€” as most people seemingly parade around in oblivion,ā€ they wrote on Instagram. ā€œAs believers that fashion is always political ā€“ we nevertheless showed up to the BOF Gala in Paris last Saturday, one of the fashion calendars most glamorous and star studded events ā€“ if for nothing else than to remind people that there is still a g*n_ c ide happening.ā€ ā€“ ZWA

To be honest, Iā€™m not mad about the jeans-refashioned-as-top situation model Paloma Elsesser's wearing at the Balenciaga show. Itā€™s a little bit too novelty for my liking (because Iā€™m sure Balenciaga cares deeply about my likings). But I have a longstanding love of tartan, and this skirt is really doing a number on me. Itā€™s the rough hem, the way itā€™s styled over chunky boots, the pleats that give kilt without making her look like a card carrying member of the bagpipe association. And, to give jeans-as-a-top credit where creditā€™s due, the baby blue of the denim really does make the whole outfitā€™s colour scheme work. So thatā€™s something. ā€“ GW

Miu Miu is one of my favourite brands and has been for a long time ā€“ though Iā€™ve found the recent micro-mini, office siren vibe a bit of a challenge; Iā€™m more of a weird, girly, frumpy, playful ā€˜oldā€™ Miu Miu girl (content creator Mandy Lee explains it well, here). So I really loved the collection shown at Paris Fashion Week, with its layering, prints, pastels, midi skirts and echoes of the original Miu Miu. There was plenty of great celebrity dressing at the show too, but I especially loved K-pop star Jang Won-youngā€™s granny floral, collared dress which, to me, is the perfect encapsulation of sickeningly sweet Miu Miu. ā€“ ZWA

There was plenty of great celebrity dressing at the show too, but I especially loved K-pop star Jang Won-youngā€™s granny floral, collared dress which, to me, is the perfect encapsulation of sickeningly sweet Miu Miu. ā€“ ZWA
