Cool crowd-sourced outfits at the Crushes clothes swap

Crowds of stylish people spring cleaned their wardrobes and took their bags brimming full of pre-loved fashion down to Auckland’s biggest clothing exchange on Saturday.

Tucked behind Karangahape Rd on a sunny rooftop, Crushes' Rose Hope and her team set up giant tables to hold the mountains of secondhand goodies up for grabs at the big day out of sustainable fashion.

There were vintage stalls from Silly Billy Vintage and others, racks of up-cycled shirts by Riel, and stunning views of two Auckland icons - the Sky Tower and Lim Chhuor Foodcourt. Delicious Roti Bros pies and cold iced teas relieved the hangovers, and provided some much-needed fuel for the chaos that was about to begin.

Ready, set, go! Arms were flailing, dresses went flying, and DJ Lucia Taylor swapped the chill tunes for Rage Against the Machine - it was a fashion fever dream, one that left you emerging from the mosh pit sweaty and delirious but smug, clutching an armful of new treasures.

If you missed out on the swap, or just want to remember all the cute outfits for summer festival inspiration, photographer Abigail Dell'Avo captured the best fits from the day...
