From Pōneke to Naarm: Kowtow opened its first international boutique in Melbourne’s Fitzroy on Thursday night, with an opening shindig with the brand’s Aussie friends and community. Guests included content creator Jess Alizzi, graphic designer Jasmine Dowling, interior designer Brahman Perera and Kiwi illustrator and creative Kelly Thompson, with a grazing table curated by local institution Florian, wine from neighbouring wine refillery and bar, Glou, and growlers of beer from local brewery Molly Rose.

On the city’s Gertrude Street, the two-storey store was designed by Auckland-based interior architect Rufus Knight (he’s done the brand’s Auckland and Wellington stores; as well as many others for local designers), using locally sourced, recycled timbers and natural fibres – including dreamy Kozo washi paper panels.
