With so many trends coming at us from all areas of the social world, sometimes it’s best to go back to your old faithfuls. Clean, crisp, cool and comfy is an ideal combination when it comes to effortless street style – even more so when it comes to our footwear selections.
A tried and true classic since the first pair of Vans was released in 1966, it’s a sneaker that never goes out of fashion – and comes highly recommended.
57 years later and we still find the iconic waffle sole going strong. A worldwide wardrobe staple that is one of those beloved classics that appeals to everyone; the Karangahape Rd kids, Raglan surfers and Pōneke painters; whether you’re a dreamer or a doer, everyone has a pair.
And there’s a reason.
The iconic black and white sneaker (and its checkerboard mate) continue to make space for individuality while being wholly reliable as a shoe suited for any occasion. Denim or dresses, tailored pants or painted-splashed overalls - mix and match with any of your own unique pieces and the look becomes entirely unique.
To celebrate our perennially popular pals at Vans, Matt Hurley headed out with Damian and Lily to bring two of the quintessential Vans Classics (the Authentic and Sk8-Hi), to life.
Trends may come and go, but the Classics will remain the same.
