Girls, New Girl, Russian Doll and Broad City: Greta Lee has always been circling the off-beat drum of brilliance. 

Now, with her name in the mouth of every film critic following her first lead role in Celine Song’s film Past Lives, more and more people are tuning into the Greta Lee show.

Anyone familiar with her Grub Street Diet will already know she has great taste.

Not to be missed either is Lee's portrayal of Stella Bak - the millennial President of News on The Morning Show, Apple TV's campy drama centered around the on and off screen drama happening on a fictional morning news program. 

As Bak, the straight shooter tasked with shaking up the editorial old guard, Lee storms the channel’s halls almost entirely in hyped designer brands who also excel in the untraditional path: Prada, Balenciaga, Sacai and the like.

Not afraid of standing out, Bak has the sartorial audacity to attempt and pull off even the most unwieldy of fashion feats: making the business bro staple of a hoodie worn under a blazer almost look good. Lee carries the risk-taking ensembles effortlessly. 

Lee's own style is just as ambitious. She doesn't shy away from the playful, or the sculptural while still taking fashion seriously. She strode through Paris Fashion Week last March in Loewe’s viral tinsel heels, leaving errant tassels sparkling in her wake.

Her Past Lives character Nora, a contemplative writer, lives in chic but subdued staples: loose woolen pants, button downs most likely sourced from Uniqlo, streamlined slip dresses. But on the promo trail for the dreamlike film, Lee’s own style has been far less subdued.

The face of the brand’s fragrance, Lee is a Loewe girl through and through. She’s worn voluminous silky womenswear from the brand on the Bafta Tea Party and sparkling menswear to the Critics Choice Awards. An assertive red Bottega Veneta dress worn to the Governors Awards had the internet agog, typing in all caps refrains about her maternal prowess.

Working with stylist Danielle Goldberg, who also dresses the other diamond of the awards season Ayo Edebiri, Lee is confidently asserting herself as one of screen's most interesting dressers. 

This past weekend, on CBS' Sunday Morning, she walked the streets of New York and recounted a recent interaction in which JLo told her "this is your moment, embrace it" and the actor reverted to ‘ a 'toddler-like state'. 

The pureness of the moment is contrasted by the hard edged fierceness of her outfit, Lee's angular cheekbones peek out from behind the winter warmer of the moment - a fuzzy black balaclava - which itself is tucked into a leather trench coat. 

Later in the show she reflects on the new role clothes are playing in her life. “I love the clothes, I love fashion. I do. It’s all wrapped up in this idea of identity and storytelling and I genuinely love it so much.” she said.

“Right now this unexpected moment of my life, at this age, thinking about red carpet dressing and this question of: If I am sort of unexpectedly asked to present myself, and yes, the best version of myself as a woman and the woman that I am now - I love this. I love this experiment. It's this whole other art form.”
